November 6 2012 Post Election

The election of November, 2012 has concluded and a great number of voters in Cobb County were focused not only on the Presidential contest but many of the state and local offices as well.

A hearty congratulations to our two new Cobb County Board of Education members

In Post 7 Congratulations go to Mr. Brad Wheeler a retired Cobb County School District Educator and Administrator. Mr. Wheeler won his election over his incumbent opponent by a resounding 60% margin or 24,145 votes out of the 40,076 ballots cast.

In Post 1 Congratulations go to Mr. Randy Scamihorn, also a retired Cobb County School District Educator and former Asst. Principal. Although Mr. Scamihorn had no opposition in this General Election he received an impressive 31,880 votes and will replace the outgoing Board member Ms. Lynda Eagle who chose not to seek re-election.

A very special “THANK YOU” to the voters of Post 5 who gave me a Primary victory in July over two opponents. In this General election I am proud and humbled to have received the largest single number of votes among all School Board candidates – 36,443 votes. This vote total reflects over a 50% majority of registered voters within Post 5. Again I congratulate Mr. Wheeler and Mr. Scamihorn and thank them for their willingness to enter public service. I’m sure I speak for the other members of the Board as we look forward to working with them in providing the quality education Cobb County stakeholders demand.
